Are you experiencing personal stress, harboring negative emotions, or feeling energetically stuck?

Dancing meditation does not require any dance experience because it is a spontaneous and authentic body movement.

It is therapeutic because it is well-known that stress causes energy to be blocked in the body, but through meditative dance movements those energetic blockages become released and free-flowing.

The free-flowing energy fosters self-awareness, creativity, release of negative emotions and a deep connection with collective human and non-human existences.

How it works

Sessions are held in a group setting of up to 10 people. Various types of music begin to play and members are encouraged to move their bodies for 25-30 minutes. There is some gentle direction offered by the facilitator (Dr. Owens) to help participants feel free from inhibitions. 

The goals of a typical session:

  • Be present in one’s body
  • Prepare to journey inward
  • Uninhibited movement
  • Allow whatever is blocking you to be released and let go
  • Allow whatever was let go to be replaced with love & compassion

We then close with a sitting meditation for 10 minutes.

Question: What is authentic movement?

Answer: Authentic movement in dancing meditation is when you relax into a lowered state of consciousness and allow your body to move spontaneously.

Question: Do I need to know how to dance?

Answer: No. You just need to be open to your body moving and being moved by the deeper part of who you are. 

Question: Is it possible to go into a trance state during meditative dance?

Answer: It depends on how open and deep the individual’s personal experience is with the unconscious.
